Abstract Submission

Upcoming Dates

  • January 2024 - Abstract submission open

  • March 14, 2024 - Oral Abstract deadline (extended from March 7)

  • May 16, 2024 - Poster Abstract deadline

  • NOTE: If you submitted in the "Oral or Poster" category, you should have received your acceptance/declination e-mail on April 23. Please check your spam folder. Contact us if you did not receive.

  • If you submitted in the "Poster" category, and your paper number is 500 or lower, you should have already received your acceptance/declination e-mail.  Please check your spam folder. Contact us if you did not receive.

Thank you for your interest in presenting. The contribution of presenters is critical and we value your input greatly. Scientists in academia, government, industry, and others working in the field of metabolomics are invited to submit abstracts in the following scientific themes:

  • Metabolomics in Human Health and Disease
  • Plants, Food, Environment and Microbes
  • Technology Advancements
  • Computational Metabolomics, Statistics & Bioinformatics
  • Industry Spotlight: Metabolomics in Pharma and Biotech

All abstracts will go through peer-review and will be selected by the Metabolomics 2024 Planning Committee. To ensure a diverse range of contributions each participant may only submit one abstract as "presenting author" while participants may be listed as co-authors on multiple abstracts. You'll be asked to select a theme and sub-topic from the list below.

Abstract Submission is now closed.

NEW! Dedicated session for developments in the pharma and biotech industry. Limited spaces available, be sure to select a secondary theme when you submit your abstract. For your primary theme, select Industry Spotlight if you would like to present in this session.

Abstract Guidelines
  • Abstract titles should be short, but descriptive.
  • Abstracts should be no longer than 300 words.
  • The submitting author will receive an email confirming receipt of the abstract and will be responsible for notifying all co-authors of the submission.
  • If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail after you submit, your abstract HAS NOT BEEN RECEIVED. Contact info@metabolomicssociety.org for assistance or revisit the form to make sure you completed all pages and hit “Submit”.

Peer-review Procedures and Deadlines
  • Oral abstract submission deadline was extended to March 14, 2024. It is now closed.
  • Poster abstract submission deadline was May 16, 2024. It is now closed.
  • All abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee.
  • Abstracts constituting sales pitches for products or services will not be considered.
  • Announcements of selected abstracts will be made mid-April, 2024.
  • All presenters must register online for the conference. Oral presenters must register (and pay) by May 17, 2024 to secure your agenda spot, and poster presenters must register (and pay) by June 1, 2024.
  • Complete instructions for oral and poster presentations will be provided upon notification of acceptance.
  • Posters will be available to view online 2 weeks prior to the conference.
  • You can only submit ONE abstract as the presenter.  (Either poster or oral/poster, not both)

Abstract Scoring
The Committee has clear criteria for reviewing and scoring each abstract. You can view the guidelines and rubric below. Keep in mind that all abstracts must be relevant to the Metabolomics Society conference and cannot contain obvious marketing content.
